And Horrors don't typically have the luxury of conventional parents.

Annie, Episode 7

Episode 7 is the seventh chapter of the Code Adam (WEBTOON) series by Atterozen. It was released on July 29th, 2019.

Synopsis

Lato begins to explain the history of the country. He explains that, when the country was engulfed in war, the government grew desperate and turned to human experimentation, eventually succeeding and creating the Horrors, and it was thanks to them that the war ended. But, rather than simply disposing of the Horrors after the war ended, they invented a Cure for them. Atlas questions this, and Lato says it would turn the Horrors back to ordinary humans. The problem was that the Cure was never used, and the project never came to an end.

Nine, visibly confused, is in disbelief at the idea of a magical solution to transform the Horrors. He starts to raise his voice, asking why something like that even exists. Sands, in his usual cold demeanor, queries the relevance of dwelling on the motivations of dead scientists because, unlike Nine and Atlas, they don't have the luxury of time. Discreetly, Lato glares at him. Wanting to focus on the subject, Atlas inquires about the Cure.

Lato reveals that they possess the Cure, but it won't work without all Originals, and asks them to help obtain the other seven. Atlas quickly catches on, but Nine is skeptical of their motives. Atlas points out that they wouldn't have any reason to lie, and Iantis agrees with them, saying Atlas's name, which prompts him to question his familiarity with their names.

Iantis acknowledges this and decides to introduce the group to them. Introducing himself, Iantis takes a drag from his cigarette, apologizing for the circumstances they meet under. Lato throws a pillow at his head, chiding him for smoking.

Still skeptical of them, Nine wonders how they would find the other Originals in the first place without any prior knowledge. Lato reassures him that the pair doesn't need to worry about that, and all they need is their cooperation and firepower. Atlas ponders them requiring firepower, considering how easily they broke into his and Nine's lab.

Lato declares that the other Originals aren't in labs, which is why they require their assistance. In surprise, Atlas raises his voice, and Lato says it would be easier to show them, instructing Annie to take them to the “briefing room”, and to drop the kids along the way. Annie guides the two out.

Once the door shuts, Hinalea, who had earphones plugged in the entire time, realizes the two just left. Lato inclines his head, telling Hinalea not to shout, but she does anyway. Her shoulders slump at the missed opportunity of not being able to record his monologue. Hinalea clings to Lato, asking him to say it again, though he only tells her to get off. Iantis then asks if it was appropriate for them to leave out so much information, expressing that there is more for Atlas and Nine to be aware of.

Lato responds that revealing more now wouldn't motivate them to assist them, and would only distract the group from their goal. With Hinalea still clinging onto him, Lato stands up and declares its time for them to go, and regardless of their personal matters, Atlas and Nine are the best shot they have at ending the project.

Meanwhile, Annie, Atlas, Nine, and the T-2 children are at a childcare center. The receptionist asks if they're leaving the kids for long-term or short-term abandonment. Casually, Annie says long-term, causing surprised exclamations from Atlas and Nine and startling the other parents and children. The receptionist confirms the children are already registered in the system and escorts them away.

As the three walk out, Atlas and Nine express concern for leaving the T-2 children there, especially since they have “crazy abilities” pointed out by Nine. Annie assures them their abilities will be kept in check through “medication”, and if anything happens, they will be nearby. Atlas questions this way of upbringing. Annie responds that there are no better alternatives and points out that Horrors lack the luxury of having parental care. Atlas remembers his own childhood, and agrees, with a pained look on his face.

Later, Nine and Atlas are in a room together, waiting for the group. Nine asks for Atlas's opinion, asking if they should trust the T-2's. Atlas says he would believe them but not necessarily trust them, noting how they're hiding things from them but seeing there's no other choice but to stay with them, albeit cautiously. Just then, the T-2's arrive, Nine complaining about the delay, and why they had to move rooms to continue conversing.

Sands answers, saying they can't be too careful with who knows their plans. Atlas cuts to the point, asking where the other Originals are if they're not in labs. Lato tells him to take a look, and Iantis taps a glowing blue keyboard, causing several holograms to appear before them.

As the holograms continue to appear, Nine and Atlas's eyes widen at the sight of one hologram. The hologram shows a dark-skinned, white-haired, and yellow-eyed woman in fashionable clothing, with the caption “MYSTERIOUS BEAUTY”.
